I work as both a producer and a topliner. These demos come from sessions with the writers and producers credited on each song.

When I’m producing, I’m thinking about the sound, recording takes and building an arrangement that gives the song somewhere to go.

When I’m toplining, melody and rhythm usually come first, with the concept and lyrics taking shape as we find something that feels good.

A lot of what I enjoy happens between those roles. Someone tries an idea they’re unsure about, another person hears something in it, and suddenly the song starts moving. I pay attention to who hasn’t had space to contribute and when the room needs a different approach.
